Verizon Wireless announced results of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) field trials in Boston and Seattle. The trial consisted of data calls with streamed video, web browsing, file uploads and downloads, and calls using VoIP. Here’s the quick breakdown of the results.

Avg Download Speeds: 5-12 Mbps (Compared to 3G speeds of 600-1.4 Mbps)
Peak Upload Speeds: 20-25 Mbps
Avg Upload Speeds: 2-5 Mbps (Compared to 3G speeds of 500-800 Kbps)
Verizon Wireless says it is on track to deliver 4G LTE to 25-30 markets serving 100 million people by year’s end. Full nationwide coverage is expected to occur in 2013.
In comparison, Sprint’s 4G network touts average download speeds of 3-6 Mbps and peak download speeds of up to 10 Mbps. Sprint may be boasting the first wireless 4G network, but Verizon Wireless is on track to pass them with speeds equivalent to a NASCAR stock car passing a Sunday driver.
